Dreamland Totem

Totem in Dreamland is almost like a platformer designed to play in VR. You play as a young sleeping boy who has to collect various totems while dreaming. Your goal is to build it in each level filled with floating and detached platforms. You have to jump from platform to platform to collect items, totems, fix the platform and make it to the end of each level.

The controls are interesting and take advantage of the 3D quality of a VR game. A floating red icon directs your character through the level. Tap the touchpad to jump, double tap for a long jump. If you jump over your head when meeting an enemy, it can be dispatched easily.

An exciting, evil and fun game available for free in the Oculus store.

shooting showdown 2

If you're a fan of shooting games, take a look at Shooting Showdown 2. It's not a first person shooter VR game because it's a variety of mini games that test shooting games. Use an internet connection or face-to-face with others in hands-on mode. There are three play areas with about 12 levels combined.

The levels have several flavors, but they are all similar. Shoot at targets of different sizes and distances, check reactions with a game that only shoots when the light turns green, or work your aim with a game of dice shooting. Aim for the side with the highest number. As you might suspect, the controls are easy. During gameplay, you will see an indicator indicating your target location, just tap on the touchpad. As far as reloading goes, looking down will set it up.

Shooting Showdown is currently available for free in Oculus stores.

hit

Smash hit is a very fast-starting game that never slows down. Your goal through the game is to fire balls to break obstacles. Sometimes this means blue crystals and gives you a bonus after getting multiple lines in a row, allowing you to shoot multiple balls with one tap. At other points, there are obstacles in the form of glass doors, buttons that must be pressed to advance to the next level, or giant hanging double helixes.

To control the game, just tap the touchpad to fire the ammo. This was the funniest game in the bunch. The only caveat we will run into is that playing too long can cause the Gear VR to heat up. In other words, you should stop playing for a little bit. good news? The game has automatic checkpoints so you can re-select the game after the situation cools down.

Smash Hit is available for free in the Oculus store.

temple run

If you're a fan of gaming on your mobile device, Temple Run will be familiar. Now you can play in VR. Even if it's not as fun as the original. You have to jump over the beasts guarding the temple while scooping up as many coins as possible while avoiding obstacles like railings, crevices in the road, gusts of wind, trees and more. It's a really fun game to play in VR where you can hear your guardians when you stumble, or the shadows on the left and right.

Temple Run has the same basic controls as the original game, but can be entered slightly differently. If no gamepad is connected, all operations are controlled via the touchpad. Swipe up to swipe down and swipe down to swipe left or right to move left or right. As you might expect, this is a blast to enjoy in VR.

Temple Run is currently available on the Oculus Store.

playhead

The playhead is very short, but it's definitely a different kind of game. I'm playing within an electronic music simulator to help modify music. It doesn't have a lot of content, but it's innovative how VR games look. The graphics are stunning in the original panel sitting on the 360 control panel talking to the computer on various computer screens. Another game where you don't have to worry about steering or navigating because it lets you move forward.

The controls are very simple and work via the touchpad. When you place your finger on the touchpad, it looks like a normal music control menu. You can fast forward, rewind, pause or play. The two most important things are pressing the rewind and play buttons when fixing electronic songs. Between the stages there is a wonderful scenery and flowers as you fix the musical score.

Playheads are available free of charge in the Oculus store.
